Walkway |
We bought our packed lunch first, then start our day tour, our first stop is WALKWAY to the old volcano and stations of the cross. Jerrald and I decided to reach the top so we trek for almost an hour. sooo tiring and we didn't bring any water with us. haha.
After that we went to the famous SUNKEN CEMETERY. We didn't plan to swim and we thought that we'll just see it from a far, but fortunately we were able to snorkel and went near the cross through the boat we rented for just Php100.

The whole capital of CAMIGUIN with its cemetery, sunk under the sea. In the following years, the sunken land and the gravestones can still be seen when the tide is low. But in 1948 until 1953, Mount Vulcan erupted again, sinking the whole area deeper, to around twenty feet. In 1982, a large cross was built on the solidified lava to mark the site that became the graves of the ancestors of the Camiguin people. It has become a sunken cemetery. Now, it is one of the world's most unique diving sites.

Snorkeling in the area is a unique experience knowing that there are tombs underwater. But the tombs are already covered with corals and with colorful fishes living in it. We caught a blue starfish but return it after some minutes. [kawawa kasi] hehe. After some minutes of snorkeling and taking pictures we went back to the shore, bought some souvenirs then proceed to our next destination.

Our next stop is GUIOB CHURCH RUINS which was built in the 16th century, it is made of coral stones specifically located in Barangay Bonbon, Catarman, Camiguin. It was damaged due to volcanic eruption on May 13, 1971. We also found a 120 years old tree. The guide helps us took pictures in the beautiful spots around the ruins. :D
We then we proceed to STO. NIÑO COLD SPRINGS where we had our lunch. The water is veeeery coooold. haha. It's my first time to swim in cold springs and it is a nice experience it's like swimming in water full of ice. :D

SODA WATER SWIMMING POOL where in you can drink the water. We didn't swim there, we just enter the vicinity to see the place. :D
ARDENT HOTSPRINGS is our next stop [pasmahan after cold, hot nman haha], we just bought souvenirs there and we didn't enter the vicinity because we're already tired.

After a long day tour and activities we finally went back to our accommodation to have a rest. The next morning we woke up at 6am, went to a church and in there we found a TAHO vendor which is unique because their taho contains condense milk, we bought some and then proceed to the terminal and bought 3kilos of LANSONES [the Camiguin's specialty and my favorite], ride the ferry for an hour and proceed to the terminal going to BUTUAN and from there ride a bus again going to DAVAO which is our last destination.

CAMIGUIN ISLAND is a beautiful place with a lot of springs due to the presense of a lot of volcanoes in the island. It is a pear-shaped volcanic island with a total land area of 238 sq. kilometers. One of the most beautiful place here in our country.
